Fieldtrip to Southwest Nature Preserve with Fort Worth Audubon Society (FWAS)

Saturday, October 22, 2016
8:00 to 10:00 a.m. (meet in Parking lot)
Leaders: Jim Frisinger (Friends of SWNP) and Thomas Haase (FWAS & our October 18 speaker)

Description:  The 58-acre preserve of previously undeveloped land was converted to a park with three ponds in fall 2013.  Located just south of Interstate 20 and adjacent to Bowman Springs Drive.  Hosts several significant native plant communities and a high bluff located on sandstone outcroppings with dramatic views, including one as far away as downtown Fort Worth.  From a parking lot, visitors can access the preserve via a concrete walkway and a boardwalk, which leads to the fishing pier.  Several picnic tables have also been installed along the concrete walkway.  Bring snacks and drinks, sunscreen and/or hat.
