UPDATE, 7/22/17: Great news, the Fundraising Goal has been MET! Big thanks to everyone who contributed to the fund. Watch for project updates to follow soon.
Southwest Nature Preserve has been very fortunate to receive the notice of David White for his Eagle Scout project. While hiking at the preserve, David noticed that while the trail map at the entry parking lot was great, there were no trail markers or trailhead kiosk.
He contacted Friends of Southwest Nature Preserve about his idea, and with our enthusiastic support, subsequently presented his project and received approval from Arlington Parks and Recreation Department and Boy Scouts of America.
David has worked with APRD and Friends of SWNP to design a trailhead kiosk which will contain a detailed trail map and other information about the preserve’s natural features as well as strategic placement of color-coded markers along the trails. The project will help guests to have a a more enjoyable experience and greater appreciation of the preserve while also establishing easily recognized trails and reducing erosion and its damaging effects on wildlife habitat.
Please consider a donation to support David’s project; see details and contact information in his flyer. Thank you!
