The preserve’s diverse soil types and topography support a wide variety of plants which in turn support many species of wildlife. SWNP has long attracted a number of professional and amateur botanists who have identified over 400 species (see link below). These surveys not only add to plant knowledge but also help assess habitat quality and changes. Public plant walks are offered throughout the year; please watch our calendar or contact us to be included in email notices.
Thanks to botanist Jeff Quayle for his many discoveries and contributions to SWNP’s plant information and for administering the SWNP plant list.
